ATLANTA - Construction on the new Westside Park at Bellwood Quarry is now underway.
Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms joined a number of city officials to celebrate the groundbreaking Thursday afternoon on Lois Street.
During work on the $26.5 projet, activities will be held to engage the community and get input on park design.
Mayor Bottoms said the park will be “ground zero” for some of the biggest economic investments ever seen on the Westside.
When complete, developers said the nearly 300-acre park and greenspace will be the biggest park in the city.
