Great-grandmother celebrates 94th birthday with skydiving
HAZLE TOWNSHIP, Pa. - Most people celebrate their birthdays with presents and cake, but 94-year-old Elia Campbell wanted to do something a bit more extreme.
The Pennsylvanian great-grandmother decided to mark her 94th birthday by skydiving.
"This year, when I'm going to be this age, this old, I figured I'll never make it for another year. Better do it now" Campbell said.
Campbell shared the adventure with her granddaughter Sara Schuelke and great-granddaughter Jess Fox, who both also took the 10,000-foot plunge from Hazleton Regional Airport in Pennsylvania.
"This was on her bucket list and there was no way I was missing the most incredible matriarch jumping," Schuelke said. "I wasn't going to miss it."
Campbell said the wind was "so terrific" and that she "loved" the experience."
The grandmother already wants to skydive again.
"Well, everyone thinks I'm a little nuts anyways, so it doesn't matter," she said.
