Gov. Deal attends art showcase by inmates

Georgia Governor Nathan Deal attended an art showcase Monday featuring artwork created by prison inmates.

The showcase opened Monday afternoon at the downtown James H. "Sloppy" Floyd Veterans Memorial Building.

The artwork is up for sale and proceeds go to the Little Readers Program which allows for inmates to send recordings of them reading children’s books to their loved ones.

Governor Deal said he's impressed by the inmates' talents.

One of the paintings more prominently displayed is a portrait of the governor himself.
