Georgia couple ties the knot in 'sweet' ceremony
ROME, Ga - Rome, Georgia couple Casey Jones and Courtney Shell celebrated their wedding vows in a sweet ceremony at Krispy Kreme.
“In December we were getting married and had it all planned, we were having an ugly Christmas sweater wedding in my older brother's backyard. When my sister in law's mother died two days before we decided to postpone because my family could not be there,” said Jones.
The couple had never set another date to marry. However, as the couple passed Rome’s first ever Krispy Kreme, Casey joked with Courtney on a whim about getting married in front of the “hot sign” and Courtney said “yes!”
“My mother was killed in a car accident in 2001 and she loved Krispy Kreme. We never passed one growing up where she didn't stop. Having my wedding in a place that I associate with my mother seemed like the perfect fit,” said Jones.
The original plan was to get married at Krispy Kreme’s grand opening celebration on Tuesday, February 22. Krispy Kreme’s corporate loved the idea, but asked the couple to move the wedding from opening day to the night before to coincide with the party they were having for the campers.
The bride wore her mother's wedding dress from her 1977 wedding to my father.
Their wedding was attended by about 35 of their close friends and family and many store employees.
“Krispy Kreme was amazing to us through all this. We now consider the people of Krispy Kreme family. They made the cake, decorated the building, got a red carpet for me to walk down. My mother would have loved this! I have new family in the people of Krispy Kreme and they made my wedding a sweet memory. I especially want thank Jackie Dotson of Krispy Kreme for our amazing cake and all the time she put into making our day special.”
Congratulations Casey and Courtney! The “sweetest” couple of the year!
