Gator takes break on dock near Tampa park

A gator took a few minutes to stop and rest on the dock near a Tampa park Monday afternoon.

The gator was on the dock typically used for motorized boats, water taxi stops, and public kayak launches for a while until it slid into the water along the park.

The water along the park is brackish so it's home to the occasional alligator as well as the occasional shark.

The 25 acre, $35 million Julian B. Lane Riverfront Park opened earlier this year and is located just north of the University of Tampa and across the Hillsborough River from the David A. Straz Center for the Performing Arts.
