Gas station clerk accused of killing customer

A Detroit gas station clerk is in custody, accused of fatally shooting a customer after an argument.

The shooting happened around 3:45 p.m. Sunday at the Citgo gas station on the corner of McNichols and Southfield.

Police say the customer and the clerk got into an argument, then the 26-year-old employee allegedly came out from behind the counter and shot the 34-year old man in the chest.

Detroit Police Commander Nicholas Giaquinto says the clerk called 911 and confessed. The victim was later pronounced dead at the hospital.

Right now, it's not clear what sparked the argument.

Giaquinto says the dispute was captured on video, so police are looking at that to get a better picture of what happened.

Police recovered the weapon and arrested the store clerk.

Meanwhile, the Change Agent Consortium is holding a press conference Monday to demand justice for the victim, who hasn't yet been named.
