A New Jersey fugitive captured in Georgia last month has been extradited back home to face manslaughter charges.

Elnardo Chandler was arrested May 8 after a routine traffic stop in Smyrna. An officer there had stopped a car for speeding and, as the officer approached the vehicle, he saw the driver and passenger switch places.

Authorities say the driver, who allegedly gave the officer a fake name, had a suspended license and tried to flee. But he was soon caught.

It eventually was determined that the driver was actually Chandler, who along with another man is accused in the July 2018 beating death of another man in Jersey City.

Hudson County prosecutors say Chandler is due to appear in court Thursday for a detention hearing.
