Federal investigators are investigating a deadly plane crash just across the Georgia line in South Carolina.

The Oconee County Emergency Services in South Carolina said they found the Piper PA-32 near Lake Hartwell. The four people on board did not survive. The crash site is in a remote area near the lake which caused delays arriving at the scene

The FAA said the aircraft was headed to Clemson, South Carolina when it lost contact with air traffic controllers around 3:30 p.m. Friday.

The names of the victims have not yet been released. Officials were still working to identify the identification numbers on the plane.

The FAA and NTSB both have sent teams of investigators to investigate the crash.
