Firefighters: Man injured scrapping forklift
SPALDING COUNTY, Ga. (FOX 5 Atlanta) - A worker was injured in Spalding County on Saturday while cutting up a forklift for scrap, firefighters said.
It happened at the Atlanta Lift Truck Salvage located at 4026 N. Expressway around 1:19 p.m. Spalding County firefighters said the 22-year-old man was injured trying to put out the fire. He received burns to his face, neck, back, and wrists and suffered from smoke inhalation. He was airlifted to Grady Memorial Hospital.
Firefighters said he was in the process of disassembling forklifts using a cutting torch when fuel ignited. The exact cause of the fire is under investigation.
The name of the man has not yet been released.
His condition was not known as of Monday.
