Fire at Mitchell County church ruled arson
MITCHELL COUNTY, Ga. - Authorities have made an arrest in the fire at a Mitchell County church that was ruled arson, The Georgia Department of Insurance and the Mitchell County Fire Sheriff's Office.
The Dougherty County Police department arrested Kentrez Gardner, 37, on January 31.
Heavy flames damaged the inside of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church on Pinecliff Road in Camilla after a fire broke out Tuesday morning, the Georgia Department of Insurance told FOX 5.
Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner Ralph Hudgens said that several items were missing from the church.
Investigators believe the blaze started in an attempt to cover up a burglary, he said.
Bozeman gave a full confession, and caused an estimated $100,000 worth of damage, according to investigators.
Bozeman faces charges of first-degree arson and burglary. He is being held in the Mitchell County Jail.
