Family seeks answers in grandfather's death

The family of a grandfather whose body was found a few hundred feet from his home is looking for answers about the events surrounding his death.

Family members reported Melvin Moss missing back in January.

A month later, his body was found in a wooded area near his home on Gordon Circle in Smyrna.

"He was gone 47 days and found here in an area we searched and searched,” Adrian Williams, Moss’ brother told FOX 5 at the time.

But police don't think that was the original crime scene.

Meanwhile, his family continues to grapple with all the unanswered questions surrounding his death.

"If I hadn't told him to go home that morning – 'Go home Mel. Get you some rest' – then it wouldn't have happened," Mary Griffin, Moss' cousin, said. "Know what I'm saying? Cause he'd have still been here."

The Smyrna Police Department is asking anyone who may have heard or saw anything suspicious in the area of Village Parkway and Pasadena Boulevard between Feb. 18 and Feb. 21 to please call them at (770) 434-6666 or Crime Stoppers Atlanta at (404) 577-8477.
