A local family is mourning the loss of a mother and her little daughter after a wrong-way crash claimed their lives.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office said David Fryar, Jr., 32, of Forsyth, Georgia was driving the wrong way on Interstate 75 early Sunday when he crashed into Monserrat Godinez's car. The mother from College Park was in the car with her seven-year-old daughter, Alani. Deputies say all three people were killed.

The Godinez family told FOX 5 the mother and daughter leave behind a father and a son, 9. Sister-in-law Carina Godinez said the family expected to spend Memorial Day having a cookout; instead, they planned a funeral.

"They were so much alike, like twins. They were positive and cheerful," Godinez said. "Love your loved ones. Keep them close. You never know when it's going to be the last time you're going to see them."

The victims' cousins, who live near their home in College Park, told Fox 5 the neighborhood won't be the same.

Giselle Gomez cried while talking about her favorite playmate, Alina.

"She used to give me a hug when I went to my classroom. I would give her a hug too," Gomez said.
