The family of a 9-year-old Lithonia girl who was hit by a speeding car is asking the public to help bring the driver to justice.

According to the family, on Friday night LaDerihanna Holmes was playing in the front yard of her house on the 2200 block of Cherokee Valley Circle when a car came off the roadway and ran right into the young girl.

Surveillance footage released by the family shows the moment the crash happened. The black sedan runs right through a stop sign, jumps the curb and hits Holmes as she tries to get out of the way.

The footage then shows the driver exiting the passenger door and running away in the confusion. A witness told police that there were two people in the car at the time of the accident.

Holmes was rushed to a hospital. Her parents now say she is critically injured.

The family is asking anyone who may have information to please call police.
