False crime report closes roads near downtown Fairburn

Police are investigating after they received a phone call about a possible hostage situation and a child shot at an apartment near downtown Fairburn.

Police closed down the area of Bay and Clay streets while they investigated the call Saturday night.

Fairburn Police Lieutenant Anthony Bazydlo told FOX 5 News that their SWAT team has cleared the area. No hostages, suspects or injured people were found inside the apartment, said Bazydlo.

Bazydlo said this appears to be a false report of a crime.

Police are now investigating the false report to determine who made the call.
