Driver dies after crashing car into Dunwoody home

An elderly driver was killed after crashing his car into a Dunwoody home early Friday morning, according to DeKalb County firefighters.

The wreck happened around 4:30 a.m. on Brook Ridge Drive, which is located off of Dunwoody Club Drive. 

The family who lives in the home says a loud noise woke them up and they came downstairs just before the car caught fire.

The family of six made it out of the house safely. 

The house was badly damaged, and firefighters say it's not safe for the family to stay there.

Firefighters say it is unclear what led to the crash, and whether the driver died in the crash itself, or as a result of the fire after the crash.
