Police have arrested the driver in a deadly hit-and-run that killed a young man.

According to the Gwinnett County Police Department, 23-year-old Jhonatan Romero-Alvarez called investigators Tuesday night saying he wanted to discuss the accident that killed 22-year-old Dante Wilson.

Police said Wilson, a talented artist and new father, was trying to cross Boggs Road in Gwinnett County. Romero-Alvarez struck Wilson with his car's passenger-side mirror and kept going, according to police. Two other vehicles traveling in the same direction then struck Wilson. Both of those drivers stopped.

Around the same time that Romero-Alvarez met with investigators Tuesday night, friends and family held a vigil for Wilson.

"He didn't deserve to die like this," said loved one Quina Nicholson. "He was an excellent kid."

"It's not justice until we get answers," said step-brother Tony Nicholson.

Romero-Alvarez has been charged with vehicular homicide and hit and run. He's currently being held at the Gwinnnett County jail.
