An early Valentine's Day gift for a special partner in crime in Doraville.

Monday afternoon, The Pawstand presented a ballistic vest to K-9 Officer Max.

The Pawstand was inspired to raise money for Doraville's K-9 officers after what happened to K-9 Indi.

Indi was seriously injured while working to pursue the gunman who shot and killed DeKalb County Police Officer Edgar Flores last December during a traffic stop.

They said the community is passionate about protecting those who look after them.

Max became the third canine to receive the equipment to ensure he's better protected on the job.

They will continue their fundraising for the fourth vest.
