CARROLL COUNTY, Ga. - Three dogs are safe after being rescued off of Interstate 20. Two Fridays ago, Kristen Koenigsberg, her cousin and her aunt were on their way to Villa Rica when they noticed three dogs walking along the freeway.
“I saw these little tails on the side of the interstate. I was like there's no way," Koenigsberg said.
Instead of continuing on, she turned around.
“I didn't have a plan, but I was like ‘If I can just get them in the vehicle and off the side of the road, I can create my own plan,’” said Koenigsberg.
That is exactly what she did. She started by looking for their owners. She posted on Craigslist ad, but got no response. So, she started looking for animal shelters and settled on Town and Country Veterinary Clinic in Marietta.
Dr. Michael Good runs the clinic that also serves as a no-kill shelter.
"The first thing we did was give them vaccinations and deworm them. We gave them food and water and in 24 hours. They are as happy as they can be. They went from a situation of zero percent probability of a happy ending to 100 percent chance of a happy ending," Good said.
Sebastian, Fagin and Rita are all available for adoption.
