Deputies arrested two people who claimed to have seen clowns outside a white van in Troup County.

The Troup County Sheriff’s Office said Brandon Jerome Moody, 26 and Rebecca Moody, 27, were charged with obstruction and unlawful conduct after calling 911 to report they spotted clowns on Hammett Road.

Investigators said they questioned the man who was in a van in the area, but he was not dressed like a clown and had no costumes inside the vehicle.

Later, Moody admitted to making up the story because of all the complaints of clowns and schools being on lockdown.

The pair was booked into the Troup County Jail.
