Deputies search for gunman after shooting at Bartow County gas station

Authorities in Bartow County are searching for a gunman who opened fire in the parking lot of a gas station. Numerous agencies responded to the scene at the Shell gas station along Glade Road near the county line.

The scene, scattered with yellow markers for each piece of evidence and shell casing, sits just off of Interstate 75 Bartow County Sheriff’s Office investigators said there was a car with three people in it sitting at one of the gas pumps. That’s when deputies said someone pulled up, had a gun, and started firing.

"Three males were in a vehicle sitting near the gas pumps when a second vehicle pulled nearby. A person got out of that vehicle and started firing shots at the individuals in the vehicle at the gas station. It looks like numerous shots were fired. We do have a number of people who was injured," said Sgt. Jonathan Rogers, Bartow County Sheriff's Office.

Only one person was struck, a man in his 30s. Authorities said he was rushed to an area hospital. His condition was not released.

Investigators are trying to piece together what led up to the shooting.

"We believe this was from an early confrontation, maybe within the past couple of days, between these two parties," said Sgt. Rogers.

A description of the gunman and car was not immediately available.

The names of those involved have not yet been released.
