DeKalb Police are searching for a teenage gunman considered armed and dangerous after a teenage male was shot in the head Saturday afternoon.

The shooting happened around 3:40 p.m. at 4900 Central Drive in the Terra Creek apartments. Police said someone called 911 of a person struck by a bullet in the head.

A neighbor's vehicle was struck multiple times as shots rang out, and witnesses said a young man was lying in between two buildings.

Emergency crews transported the victim was taken to Grady Memorial Hospital where he is in critical condition.

Detectives could not state the exact age of the victim but told FOX 5 he could be 18 or younger.

Police do not know what led up to the shooting. Investigators believe the gunman lives on the property and the victim lives elsewhere.

Investigators believe a third person, a friend, was with the victim when the shooting happened but fled after the ordeal. They are still working to question him.

"There's been a lot of gunshots going off lately. I knew somebody was going to get hurt," said a concerned neighbor who didn't want her identity known, and saw the aftermath.

"I watched the news, and young guys are getting killed," she said. "They need help."
