Decatur pedestrian robbed, beaten and kidnapped

DECATUR, Ga. - Decatur Police are searching for three robbers who ambushed and beat a man walking on Church Street, forced him at gunpoint into their car, and dropped him off miles away.

Police said the ordeal happened late Tuesday night, as the victim was walking down the street while talking on his phone. The victim reported a gold sedan pulled up to him, and someone inside snatched his phone; after the victim ran and snatched it back, the suspect allegedly got out of the car and started beating the man, while another man held the victim up at gunpoint and forced him into the vehicle.

The victim said the suspects kept demanding money, and once he complied, the robbers eventually dropped him off by the Kroger on Memorial Drive.

Plenty of people who walk around the area by Glenlake Park tell FOX 5, robberies are becoming a increasing concern.

“I have the dog, and most of the time, we have a gun,” said one man, who says he takes precautions while walking around the neighborhood.
