Cyber tip leads to Newnan child porn arrest

A 64-year-old Newnan man was arrested on child pornography charges after authorities received a cyber tip, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation. Michael Wayne St. John Sr., 64, has since been released on bond.

He is charged with two felony counts of sexual exploitation of children following an investigation by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation's Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force.

GBI officials received a tip about St. John from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, according to the GBI.

After a search of St. John’s home, authorities found child pornography on his computer, and he was arrested for trading images, the GBI said. His computer was seized for further analysis.

St. John was released from the Coweta County Jail on Saturday after posting a $27,900 bond.
