Custom Jaguar stolen from car shop
LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Lawrenceville Police are trying to locate a couple of thieves who stole a very special car and a whole lot more from a custom car shop.
The suicide door Jaguar was being outfitted for Dennis Walters a disabled golfer who tours the country with his inspirational message.
Kahan Paul who owns Mad Creations showed FOX 5 News the empty space where the custom Jaguar XJL was parked when it was stolen early Wednesday morning.
He said a seven thousand dollar motor, some wheels, tires, an SUV, a motorcycle, a pistol and $5,000 were also stolen.
Paul said he was crushed when calling the customer, Dennis Walters.
He said Walters sought him out because he is the only custom car outfitter in the South East who could handle the complicated job of putting suicide doors on a Jaguar.
Walters spoke to FOX 5 News from his home in Jupiter Florida. He said the custom car would allow him to transfer from his wheel chair to the front seat of the car then put the wheel chair in the vehicle without folding it up.
Walters was a budding golf pro when an accident left him in a wheel chair four decades ago. Walters turned tragedy into triumph. He's now in his 38th year of inspirational messages about never giving up. The Jaguar was another avenue of freedom.
Lawrenceville Police said there is a person of interest identified as well as evidence recovered from the scene, but so far no arrests.
The crook or crooks got in through the front door of QCA Customs which shares space with Mad Creations where the Jaguar was located.
Police said the thieves left through the back gate after spending several hours pilfering through the businesses.
Kahan Paul said he believes more than one person was involved because the objects taken were too heavy and bulky for one person to handle.
Late Friday, police told FOX 5 News the custom Jaguar had been located in Jackson County.
Kahan Paul said he had spoken to police but had not been told of the vehicles condition.
He said the Jaguar will be returned to his shop Saturday.
Anyone with any knowledge of this crime is asked to contact the Lawrenceville Police Department.
