Criminals Caught in Act in Brookhaven Theft

BROOKHAVEN, Ga. - A crime victim caught thieves breaking into his van and it was all caught on surveillance cameras.  

Brookhaven Police released several images that show a maroon or red truck pulling up behind a van at the Royal Food Store on Buford Highway. According to police, a man hopped out of that vehicle and opened up the van's door, which was unlocked. Police said that's when he grabbed cash that the victim just picked up from the bank. A few minutes later, he came back to steal the van, as a second man went inside as a lookout.  

The man's face was caught on camera inside the store. Seconds later,  the victim walked outside, and saw his van door open. That's when he realized his money was gone and he took off running after the crew.  

Detectives are waiting to get surveillance video from a nearby bank to see if the victim was followed from there to the store.
