Conyers police urge residents to lock doors after auto burglaries
CONYERS, Ga. - Conyers police are reminding people to lock their car doors after a suspect was caught on surveillance camera stealing an item from an unlocked vehicle.
Police say the suspect is responsible for multiple vehicle break-ins in the area on November 13, including incidents at a Quick Trip gas station, a pharmacy and the Coaxums and Longhorn restaurants. The suspect either pulls the door handle or shatters the windows, police said.
Newly released surveillance video shows a man driving a black Dodge Avenger pull into a parking space at a gas station. He emerges from the vehicle and opens the door to the vehicle parked directly next to him. The suspect takes an item from the car and then flees the scene.
Police said the suspect’s vehicle was last seen headed westbound on Interstate 20.
He is described as a black male wearing a black jacket, gold chain and baseball cap.
