Cobb County firefighter battling apartment blaze rushed to hospital

COBB COUNTY, Ga. - A firefighter was rushed to an area hospital Thursday while battling a blaze at a Vinings apartment complex.

It happened at the Vinings Corner apartments located on Vinings Crest just after 7:30 p.m. Firefighters said flames were shooting through the roof by the time they arrived on the scene.

The Red Cross said they are helping 22 people who were displaced by the fire. A total of 12 units were involved.

Cobb County fire officials said a firefighter was rushed to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital for evaluation after experiencing chest pain. No one else was injured.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
