SOUTH FULTON, Ga. - The City of South Fulton now has its own fire department.
The fire and rescues services officially transitioned from the Fulton County Government to the City Of South Fulton Monday morning.
This, just ahead of the police department's transition, which will happen in about a month.
Mayor Bill Edwards was there for the ceremony. He said the goal is for the city to have better public safety agencies than ever before since the city now has its own control to make it better.
Officials said the department responded to a medical call at 1:01 Monday morning.
This was their first call as the City of South Fulton Fire Department.
