Charges have been upgraded against a Cherokee County mother's boyfriend in the death of her 24-day-old daughter.

The infant's mother, Alyssa Kincaid, is being held at the Cherokee Adult Detention Center along with her boyfriend, Nicholas Campbell, who is now charged with the murder of Ciara Campbell.

In December, Cherokee County Sheriff's deputies responded to a call from a home on Magnolia Springs Drive in Woodstock for a "child not breathing." Lt. Jay Baker told FOX 5 News the baby was also discovered with multiple injuries to her body. First responders rushed her to Northside Cherokee Hospital and then to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta early the next morning.

Ciara died after being taken off of life support.

Charges against Campbell were upgraded after a medical examiner ruled the baby's death a homicide in late June. The medical examiner said the death was a result of "craniocerebral trauma."

Both Campbell and Kincaid are being held without bond.

Officials said Campbell is not the child's biological father.
