Chamblee’s Urban Art Collective home to a diverse group of artists

Chamblee is known for its antique district — but the metro Atlanta city is also home to a vibrant community of artists, many of whom work under the same unique roof on Peachtree Road.

This morning on Good Day Atlanta, we spent a few hours exploring the Urban Art Collective, which is essentially a studio, workshop, and gallery space open to the public on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

First a bit of backstory: the building itself went up in 2008, created by Margaret Taylor for her home decor business, Dryads Dancing. Taylor opened the building to other artists in need of studio space in 2012 — and just a few years later, the entire second floor was taken up by artists. Today, Urban Art Collective is a vibrant hub of creativity, with 35 studios available for rent by artists and a gallery space in which to showcase their work. And we’re talking all styles of painting — from landscapes to abstracts — and mediums including glass, jewelry, and sculpture.
