Caught on tape: Robber says 'forced' to commit crime

Covington Police are investigating if a robber was "forced" to commit a crime while holding up a Rite Aid.

Police said a robber displayed a note, brandished a gun, and then asked the clerk to be calm while requesting cash from the register. He allegedly told the clerk he was "forced" into committing the robbery for reasons unknown.

Police said the robber told the clerk to call 911, then stated the robber could be found at a nearby location.

Officers searched the location, but did not find the robber.

Police described the gunman as a light-skinned black male, 5'8" to 5'10", with a goatee, black pants, a black hooded sweatshirt and brown loafers. The suspect also walks with a noticeable limp.

Police are investigating the suspect's claims that he could have been forced, but said it is possible the man could face charges because he committed the crime.
