Police in Clayton County are trying to figure how a car ended up in a Clayton County home early Saturday morning.

It happened around 1 a.m. at a home along Flat Shoals Road near Castle Gate Drive. Clayton County Police did not immediately comment on the incident.

FOX 5 cameras were there as the car was pulled from the home and placed onto a flatbed.

“We were sleeping and the whole house shook and we thought it was an earthquake,” said homeowner Jewel Keyes.

Keyes said they felt the entire house shift and quickly ran downstairs where her son was asleep.

“When I went into the downstairs of my house all I saw was smoke and lights everywhere,” Keyes said.

She told her husband she thought something exploded and that the house was on fire.

“He went to investigate and he saw the car inside of our house,” Keyes said.

Keyes said she moved into the home in September. She said she has witnessed three accidents in the short time she has lived there. She said a prior incident sent her mailbox flying into her neighbor’s yard after someone struck it, but nothing had prepared her for this.

“I was terrified. I thought it was a bomb,” she said.

Keyes said she has insurance but doesn’t even know if they will cover this.

Police have not yet released any information on the driver or if charges will be filed.

But Keyes said no one inside the home was injured.
