CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. - Several residents in Ellenwood were evacuated from their homes after car accident ruptured a natural gas line early Wednesday morning. The area has since returned to normal.
The single car crash happened shortly after 5 a.m. on Amerson Court in the Amerson Estates subdivision. Police told FOX 5's Marissa Mitchell a natural gas line started leaking after the wreck.
As a result, residents who live near the gas leak were evacuated from their homes. First responders also stopped people from going in and out of the subdivision.
Crews remain on scene working to repair the gas line.
Police said the driver involved in the car wreck appeared to be fine, and no other serious injuries were reported.
