Above average rains have not been good for one Buckhead neighborhood. There is a park called Memorial Park which gets contaminated frequently when it rains, according to homeowners and clean water experts.

At a meeting, the homeowners told city council members they are tired of talking about the problem and want a solution.

The water chief, Jo Ann Macrina, explained the park is in a floodplain, and with all the extra rainfall, the problem is ongoing due to the saturated grounds.

But that explanation didn't satisfy member Howard Shook who asked if diagnostic tests of a major sewer trunk line had been done. The water chief was unable to provide an answer,

An aide to the mayor stepped in and promised that in two weeks the staff will return to the council panel with both short-term and long-term answers to the sewage overflow problem.
