Authorities have charged the boyfriend of an Atlanta woman with murder after her dismembered remains were discovered in a Chicago-area river.

Paul Meyers of Chicago was denied bond Friday. His brother, Arronis Jackson, also faces charges alleging he helped dispose of the body. It was not immediately clear if either man already had an attorney who could comment on their behalf.

Twenty-eight-year-old Laneesha Miller of Atlanta was last seen in Chicago in June.

WLS-TV reports that divers found her remains in the Calumet River Thursday.

Cook County State's Attorney Anita Alvarez says Meyers struck the woman in the head with a hammer and strangled her during a fight. She says he dismembered the body and placed her remains in different suitcases before dumping her in the river.
