12-year-old injured, 5 arrested after shootings in Macon

Deputies in Bibb County have arrested one 12-year-old and five teens in connection with a series of shootings that left a boy hospitalized over the weekend.

Authorities say the 12-year-old victim remains in critical condition after the shooting.

What we know:

Officials tell FOX 5 that the shooting happened around 5:11 p.m. on Sunday at a home on the 2600 block of Mint Green Lane.

When deputies got to the scene, they found a 12-year-old boy who was suffering from a gunshot wound.

Medics rushed the child to a local hospital for treatment. As of Sunday night, his condition has stabilized but remains critical.

During the investigation, detectives took a 12-year-old and 14-year-old into custody. Both juveniles are charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Due to their ages, their identities have not been released. The 12-year-old was released to his parents while he awaits a court hearing. The 15-year-old remains in custody at the Macon Regional Youth Detention Center.

Less than two hours later, deputies with the Bibb County Sheriff's Office say they were called to the 2200 block of Silver Pines Drive in reference to shots fired.

While no one was injured in this shooting, witnesses told investigators that it was connected with the violence on Mint Green Lane.

Authorities say multiple juveniles fled the scene and were caught on Rocky Creek Road.

According to investigators, a 13-year-old, two 15-year-olds and 17-year-old Tauquavious Dean are all facing aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony charges. Everyone but Dean was transported to the Macon Regional Youth Detention Center. Dean is now in custody at the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center.
