DEKalb County, Ga. - A DeKalb County neighborhood is on edge after police discover the body of a teenager in a resident’s yard.
DeKalb County Police said officers found the body at around 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Poplar Spring Heights subdivision.
Investigators said the victim, Jerrick Carr, 18, was shot several times, and a gun believed to be his was found by his body.
Concerned residents spoke to FOX 5's Nathalie Pozo saying they were shocked when they learned what happened.
"Couldn't really believe it happen in a quiet neighborhood like this," said Milton Ali.
Ray Davenport, who is part of the neighborhood watch, said in the 16 years he has lived in the neighborhood nothing like this has ever happened.
"Watch out for each other and stay protected as well as we can," said Davenport.
DeKalb County Police said this is an active homicide investigation.
