The body of a Clayton County man reported missing nearly three weeks ago was found Friday prompting a homicide investigation, according to police.

David Barlow, 39, was reported missing March 29 after his mother, Katherine Barlow, said she discovered his car idling in her driveway. The Clayton County Police Department had classified Barlow's disappearance as "suspicious." Officers located Barlow's wallet discarded in College Park days after he went missing.

Friday evening, a man walking his dog discovered Barlow’s remains after his dog wandered off into the woods and would not return. Police said the body could not be identified at the time due to decomposition.

Monday, police said the medical examiner’s office was able to confirm the body was that of David Barlow. The autopsy revealed he died from at least one gunshot wound and was ruled a homicide.

Police are asking anyone with information in the case to call Crime Stoppers at 404-577-TIPS (8477).
