Body of man found along busy Cobb County road

COBB COUNTY, Ga. - Cobb County Police continue to investigate why 51-year-old Rogelio Gonzalez Chairez was found shot to death on Austell Road Thursday night.

The man’s body was found near Austell Road at Dorothy Drive S.W. in Marietta. Police said a man walking down the street discovered the body just after 9 p.m. on the sidewalk.

Neighbors in Overton Place across the street from where the body was found said they heard gunshots a half hour before the body was discovered.

Austell Road was closed for at least two hours because of the investigation. The Cobb County Medical Examiner's Office is working to determine the manner and cause of death.
