Black ice possible in portions of north Ga. following Thursday's snow
ATLANTA - The precipitation is moving out of the state, but some areas in extreme north Georgia may have the possibility of black ice Friday morning.
Areas where snow and sleet accumulated Thursday could see some refreezing and black ice. Bridges and overpasses may also experience some freezing. That should start clearing by 9 a.m. Friday.

Some winter precipitation fell across the state as a front moved through on Thursday. Light snow was reported falling in parts of extreme north Georgia and FOX 5 viewers reported sleet mixed with heavy rain falling in various locations across metro Atlanta.
FOX 5 Photojournalist Eli Jordan captured this video in Little 5 Points of sleet falling. The video shows that the sleet was melting on the ground, but had some accumulation on parked cars.

While the lower elevations didn't see any accumulation from winter precipitation, the higher elevations in north Georgia saw some accumulation. In extreme north Georgia, some areas saw accumulation of 2.5 to 3 inches.

Temperatures are expected to warm up as the weekend progresses. Expect a sunny weekend with the highs in the upper 50s to low 60s with Sunday being warmer.
