FULTON COUNTY, Ga. - Police are investigating the cause of a crash Saturday morning that killed a DeKalb County Police officer.
Fulton County Police said a woman, from out of state, took a wrong turn at Buffington Road and South Fulton Parkway. The driver, who had four passengers in her car, slammed into Officer Kevin Toatley's cruiser, according to authorities.
Toatley died at the hospital.

Corporal Kay Lester told FOX 5 News the initial investigation shows the driver was not impaired. She added they will investigate any signage issues at the intersection along with other factors.
"The public was truly in danger and you can see what resulted in this accident. Thankfully there were only two vehicles involved. I hate we had to lose a life but we are grateful no more lives were lost," said Corporal Kay Lester.
FOX 5 News confirmed GDOT also had a crew investigating the scene.
Lester said detectives plan to speak with the driver to learn more about what caused the crash.
