17-year-old girl dies after being shot multiple times near Atlanta park

ATLANTA - A 17-year-old girl who was shot multiple times Sunday afternoon has died. Atlanta police are now searching for information that could lead to the shooter.

It happened at approximately 4:10 p.m. at 502 Lynnhaven Drive SW close to Emma Millican Park.

Medics rushed the victim, Sadé Brooks, to a local hospital in critical condition. She was not able to survive her injuries.

"It's just heartbreaking to know I had to come home to find my sister gone," the victim's sister told FOX 5.

She said her family is having an extra hard time because they believe they knew the gunman. They told FOX 5 he was Sadé's childhood friend.

"This boy, he took her from us from probably a couple of words," the sister said between tears. "He could have just left."

Detectives have not confirmed the identity of the killer.
