Atlanta Schools chief: All guns are accounted for

The Atlanta Public Schools superintendent addressed accusations the district’s new police department lost several dozen firearms.

Dr. Meria Carstarphen said there is no evidence to support the claim that 30 guns were stolen from a car belonging to APS. That was a tipster gave about the district on June 14.

Carstarphen said the district recently purchased 90 firearms for the district new police force. She said those along with 18 previously purchased weapons have been accounted for.

The superintendent said she asked the Georgia of Bureau of Investigation to independently look into the claim.
