Atlanta Police search for attacker after sexual assault, beating

Atlanta police is searching for man accused of brutally beating and sexually assaulting a woman inside an apartment in northwest Atlanta.

They told FOX 5 the crime happened on October 7 at a complex near Luckie Street.

The Special Victims Unit Commander Lt. LeAnne Browning said the woman left her door unlocked while she walked her child to a bus stop, and when she returned the man was inside her home.

Officers said the man beat the woman and choked her during the sexual assault. Browning added the woman fought off the intruder and ran to her balcony to seek help. The man then ran out the front door.

Atlanta Police are seeking the public's help in finding a person of interest, who they say was seen on surveillance footage near the scene at the time of the incident.
