A shooting late Wednesday night left a man dead in southeast Atlanta.

Police found the victim in a vacant lot on Richmond Avenue.

Around 11 p.m. Wednesday night, officers responded to a call for shots fired. They found shell casings but no victim. About the same time, another call came into 911 saying a man was lying in a nearby lot.  Police then found the victim, who they said was already dead.

Police haven't identified any suspects, but they did bring a possible witness to APD headquarters, hoping to learn more about what may have led up to the shooting.

Officers also plan on canvassing the area and looking for surveillance video. Investigators said they did hear some talk about a car driving through the neighborhood at the time of the shooting. They are not sure if the victim was the intended target or possibly caught in the crossfire.
