Incident at Atlanta airport involving unattended bag over, officials say

Atlanta police were called to investigate an unattended bag near the north domestic baggage carousels at the world's busiest airport around 10:30 a.m. Friday, according to Atlanta Police Department. 

Officers temporarily suspended operations in the north terminal to investigate.

Atlanta Police Department EOD (Explosive Ordinance Disposal) units were requested to respond to the scene to investigate the contents of the bag and render the scene safe.

Airport personnel and travelers were temporarily cleared from the area.

At 11:38 a.m., the airport posted on social media that the incident had been cleared and operations were returning to normal.
