ATLANTA (FOX 5 Atlanta) - Police in Atlanta are trying to determine if two separate shootings in southwest Atlanta early Thursday morning are related.
Officers were called to a home on Stone Road in southwest Atlanta on a report of shots fired.
“When the officers went inside the home, they found a male suffering from two gunshot wounds--one to the stomach and one to the groin area,” said Atlanta Police Department Night Commander William Ricker. “There were also narcotics on scene as well and several shell casings.”
Police soon discovered that man wasn't the only person shot. They found a second gunshot victim near Campbellton Road.
“A short time later, another call came from Grady [Memorial Hospital] where there was another victim, a 39-year-old male, who had suffered a gunshot wound to the chest,” said Ricker.
Police are trying to figure out if the shootings are connected or separate incidents.
Officers are not sure if they’re still on the hunt for a suspect.
“We don't know the nature between the two of them,” said Ricker. “The one victim on scene was not very cooperative in telling us what took place.”
Police said they are processing a lot of evidence and hope cameras at the Stone Road location will help their investigation.
“There's surveillance cameras on scene, and we found shell casings outside the house and out in the street, so we'll have to do a little more digging and investigating to see what led up to the shooting,” said Ricker.
APD will interview the two men again once they are medically cleared. The man shot in the chest underwent surgery, but both men were in stable condition as of Thursday afternoon.
