Atlanta officers get new body cameras
ATLANTA - The Atlanta Police Department made an exciting announcement Thursday about their Zone 4 officers.
Chief George Turner held a show and tell at the Zone 4 Precinct in southwest Atlanta, showing off new body cameras for officers.
The department will equip all Zone 4 officers with new body cameras and officers in Zone 1 and Zone 6 will get them next.
According to Atlanta authorities, this is a move to increase transparency between police and the public.
Chief Turner noted several benefits to this change in equipment.
Officials said they expect officers in all zones to have these cameras by the end of June 2017.
