Atlanta man to celebrate 100th birthday on Sunday
ATLANTA - An Atlanta man will be celebrating a major milestone this weekend.
William Dickey was born on December 3, 1917, and will turn 100-years-old this Sunday.
Dickey earned both his bachelor's degree and master's degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Washington. Then, he began his career as a plant manager for International Minerals and Chemicals Co. in San Jose, California. In 1982, Mr. Dickey retired from Kalium Chemicals in Atlanta.
In 1947, Dickey married the love of his life, Gloria Teifer. Together, they had three sons, Chuck, John, and Doug.
Mrs. Dickey passed away in 2015. They were married for 68 years.
Dickey also has five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
This weekend, a special celebration is taking place in Dickey's honor at the Waterford at Hidden Lakes Assisted Living facility in Canton, where he resides. Both his family and the Hidden Lakes staff will be joining him for the party.
