Another 15-Year-Old Teen Killed in Union City

Two teenagers were killed in separate shootings in Union City in less than 24 hours. Both were just 15 years old.

Sunday night, Union City police said Amira Cameron and her brother were hanging out with friends at the Oakley Shoals apartment complex when a car drove up. Police said words were exchanged between the two groups, someone in the car fired, and 15-year-old Amira was shot in the head. She was a sophomore at Langston Hughes high school. Police have not made an arrest in the girl's death.

The following day, Monday afternoon, there was another shooting less than a mile from where Amira was killed. Police said they got a call to The Landings at Oak Hill apartments about a shooting. Investigators said a 15-year-old boy was with friends when a gun went off hitting the boy in the chest.

Police arrested 17-year-old Ja'Quan Perry. Police said he had a gun that went off "due to improper handling". He is charged with involuntary manslaughter.

Police said the two shootings are not related. Neighbors said they are trying to make sense of the two young lives lost forever.

"It's pretty sad, 15 years old. It's really horrible, it breaks my heart," said neighbor Shondra Wilson.
